 1) Maharajas' Express

              The Maharajas' express is a luxury tourist train owned and operated by Indian Railways catering and tourism corporation.It runs on 5 circuits covering more than 12 destinations across north-west and central India, mainly centered on Rajasthan between months of October and April.It is the most expensive luxury train in the world.The luxury train service was started in March 2010.The Indian Railway catering and tourism corporation limited and Cox and kings India LTD had signed a joint venture to setup a company called Royale Indian Rail Tours LTD to oversee the functioning and management of Maharajas' Express.The Maharajas' Express train has been equipped with modern amenities to offer comfortable on board experiences to the guest like pneumatic suspension,live TV,wifi,attached bathroom,dining car,bar,lounge and souvenir shop.The train comprises of 23 carriages which include accommodation,dining,bar,lounge,generator and store cars.Accommodation is available in 14 carriages with total passenger capacity of 88.The train also has a lounge called the Rajah club with a private bar,two dining cars,a dedicated bar car.The train is also equipped with water filtration system.

 



2) The Golden Chariot

                  The Golden Chariot is luxury tourist train which connects the important tourist spots in the Indian States of Karnataka,Kerala,Goa and Tamil Nadu as well as Pondicherry.It is named after the Stone Chariot in Vitthala temple at Happi.The 19 coaches on the train are coloured purple and gold.The Golden Chariot operates between the months of October-March.The train is operated by the Karnataka state tourism development corporation and the Maple group handles the hospitality services on the train.The Golden Chariot offers accommodation in 44 cabins in 11 coaches that are named after the dynasties that rules the region : Kadamba ,Hoysala ,Rashtrajuta ,Ganga ,Chalukya, Bahamani,Adil Shahi,Sangama,Yadukula and Vijayanagara.It also 2 restaurants,a lounge bar,gym and spa facility.It has on board internet connectivity via an USB-stick and satellite antenna providing live TV services in cabin.The Golden Chariot can accommodate 88 passengers and as on March 2009 operated at around 35% occupancy.Most of the tourist on the trains are from US,UK,Japan,Germany and France.




3) Palace On Wheels

                   The Palace On Wheels is a luxury tourist train.It was launched by the Indian Railways in association with Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation to promote tourism.The Palace On Wheels started on 26th January 1982.The concept of Palace On Wheels was derived from the royal background of the coaches which were originally meant to be the personal railway coaches of rulers of the princely states of Rajputana,Gujarat,the nizam of Hyderabad and the viceroy of British India. There are 23 coaches in the train.104 tourists can travel in it.Each coach has 4 cabins with luxury amenities and wifi internet connectivity.The train has 2 restaurants The Maharaja and Maharani with a Rajasthani ambience serving continental,Chinese Cuisine,one bar cum lounge,14 saloons and a bar.Each saloon highlight the cultural ethos of the state represented through the use of furniture,handicrafts,painting and furnishings.  




4) Deccan Odyssey 

                         The Deccan Odyssey is a special luxury train based on the model of Palace On Wheels to boost tourism on the Maharashtra route of the Indian Railways.It is a venture of Maharashtra government and Indian Railways.The train rides through the highlands of  Maharashtra,the majestic western ghats,into the deccan plateau and konkan regions.This majestic train journey gives you lifetime experiences in different cities of Maharashtra,Gujarat,Rajasthan and surrounding regions of India.The Deccan Odyssey offers accommodation in 40 deluxe cabin in 10 coaches It also has 4 presidential suites in 2 cars,1 conference car with business center,2 restaurants,a well stocked bar and a spa with steam,massage,a mini bar and a parlor.Other facilities include a library,6 channels DVD for your viewing pleasure at the lounges and 6 channels of music in each cabin.10 fully air-conditioned deluxe cabins saloons,each with combination of 4 twin bedded chambers and 2 fully air conditioned presidential suites saloons with 2 suites with combination of living room and bedroom.Saloons are equipped with channel music,intercom,attached toilets,player,running hot and cold water,shower,wall to wall carpeting and other amenities.




5) Royal Rajasthan On Wheels

                              Royal Rajasthan On Wheels is luxury train run by Indian Railways.The luxury train started was launched in January 2009 following the success of Palace On Wheels.The 14 luxury cabin housed within the Royal Rajasthan On Wheels have been named after some erstwhile royal palaces of Rajasthan.Categorized into deluxe and super deluxe saloons,these cabins come equipped with amenities such as wifi internet,satellite TV,channel music system and individual temperature control.There are 2 dining cars in Royal Rajasthan On Wheels which are named as Swarn Mahal and Sheesh Mahal,whereas Swarn Mahal is patterned on brass and gold theme,the Sheesh Mahal features spectacular floor lamps and crystal pelmets.A souvenir coach offers various handcraft products and apparels which include beer mug,embossed leather jewelry products,cruet set,leather photo frame and various other accessories.A royal spa is latest addition in the luxury amenities.
